Support
Write to support@outworldapps.com. We answer within five working days. Please tell us your device and the version of Longview (shown in your app store). You don't need to send your weigh-ins or other health details, and we can't see them anyway: Longview stores them locally, and any device backups are under your control.
Getting started
There's no account. Setup takes four steps: choose metric or imperial, enter your height, log today's weight, and decide whether you'd like a daily reminder. Then you land on the home screen with your first entry.
Adding a weigh-in. Swipe the scale in 0.1 steps and save. You can pick an earlier date to add a day you missed.
Correcting or removing one. Tap the entry in your history to correct its weight, or delete it.
Used Weight Tracker before? Longview is its new name on Google Play. Updating keeps your existing weigh-ins.
The trend and your ranges
Why the line doesn't match today's reading. The trend is a 7-day, time-weighted moving average. A single heavy or light morning moves it only a little, which is the point: it shows the direction your weight is taking, not the day's water and timing. A reading after a long break counts for more, because more days have passed.
Where's 6M or 1Y? A range appears once your history is long enough to fill it. Three months is the default when you have it.
7- and 30-day change compare your latest weigh-in with your newest weigh-in from at least 7 and 30 days earlier, rather than with yesterday's reading. If you skipped a few days around then, the comparison uses the nearest earlier entry.
Units. Switch between metric (kg, cm) and imperial (lb, ft, in) in Settings → Units. Your saved history is converted.
About BMI
BMI (body mass index) is worked out from your latest weigh-in and your height. Longview places it on a colour-banded scale and shows the weight range that matches a BMI of 18.5 to below 25 at your height.
BMI is a screening measure, not medical advice or a diagnosis. It can't tell muscle from fat, so athletes often read high, while a healthy reading can still hide a lot of fat. It isn't meant for under-18s or during pregnancy, and the overweight threshold is lower (23 rather than 25) for people of South Asian, Chinese, other Asian, Middle Eastern, Black African and African-Caribbean descent.
Longview is not a medical device. Talk to a doctor or another health professional about what your numbers mean for you, and before making changes to your diet or health.
Wrong BMI? Check your height in Settings → Height.
The daily reminder
Turn it on or change its time in Settings → Daily reminder. Longview asks for notification permission when you turn it on. Your phone schedules the reminder itself, and tapping it opens today's weigh-in.
Not arriving? Check that notifications for Longview are allowed in your phone's settings. On Android, some battery-saving modes delay scheduled notifications; allowing Longview to run unrestricted can help.
Ads and your privacy choices
Longview is free and may show one sponsored card from Google AdMob on the home screen, depending on your consent choices and ad availability. Nothing you enter is ever passed to the ad network. The privacy policy lists what Google's ads software collects.
- Change your consent choices: open Settings → Privacy choices, where available, to see Google's consent form again and change your answer.
- iPhone and iPad: tracking is controlled by Apple's prompt. Change it any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. If you don't allow tracking, any ads that can be served after your consent choices are requested as non-personalised. All app features remain usable.
- Android: reset or delete your advertising ID, and manage ad topics, in your phone's ad privacy settings (under Settings → Privacy or Settings → Google, depending on your device).
- What Google holds: manage it with Google's own tools, such as My Ad Center.
Moving to a new phone
Longview has no account or sync, so we can't move your history for you. If your phone's backup or transfer includes app data (iCloud or computer backups on iPhone and iPad; Google backup or a phone-to-phone transfer on Android), restoring it onto the new phone can bring your weigh-ins with it.
Deleting your data
Longview stores your weigh-ins, height and settings locally, so you're in control of deleting them. Your operating system may also keep copies in device backups. We hold none of your entries, so there's nothing on our side to delete.
- One entry: open it from your history and delete it.
- Everything, keeping the app: where your version of Longview has it, use Settings → Reset all local data. This erases your weigh-ins, height and settings and takes you back to setup.
- Everything: uninstall Longview. This removes all of its data from your device, including your consent choices.
- Backups: copies inside iCloud, computer or Google backups remain until those backups are replaced or deleted.
- Data held by Google's ads software: we can't access or delete it; use Google's controls above, reset or delete your advertising ID, or keep tracking off.
If you've emailed us and want that conversation deleted, just ask.
