Longview - Weight Tracker privacy policy

Your weigh-ins are yours.

Longview - Weight Tracker ("Longview") is made by OUTWORLD APPS S.R.L., Romania ("Outworld Apps", "we", "us"), the developer listed as Outworld Apps on the App Store and Google Play. This policy explains what information Longview accesses, collects, uses and shares when you use it on iPhone, iPad and Android, and how this website handles your visit. In short

Your weigh-ins, height and settings are stored locally by Longview, and BMI is calculated on your device. There is no account, no server and no copy on our side. Your operating system may include this data in device backups.
Longview is supported by ads from Google AdMob. Google's advertising and consent software processes device and usage information, described below. Ads depend on your consent choices and availability; all app features remain usable without them.
You choose whether ads can be personalised through Google's consent form where it is shown and, on iPhone and iPad, Apple's tracking permission. Revisit Google's choices in Settings → Privacy choices where available; change Apple's permission in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
We do not sell your data. Longview does not upload your weigh-ins, height or BMI or include them in advertising requests. Device backups are controlled by your operating system.

What stays on your device

Longview stores the following locally in its private app storage, which your operating system may include in backups:

your weigh-ins and their dates;
your height;
metric or imperial units;
whether the daily reminder is on, and its time;
whether you have finished setup.

Longview works out your trend, your 7- and 30-day changes and your BMI on the device. It never sends any of this to us, to Google or to anyone else. Longview also reads your device's region, to choose metric or imperial by default, and your time zone, so the reminder arrives at the right local time. Both are used only on the device.

Your weight, height and BMI are health information. Longview does not collect them, share them or use them for advertising, and it does not read from or write to Apple Health or Health Connect.

We can't see your data, so we can't recover it for you. If you back up your device to iCloud, your computer or Google, those backups may include Longview's data, under Apple's or Google's terms.

No account

Longview has no sign-up, no sign-in and no sync. We don't ask for your name, email address or any other contact details in the app.

Advertising: Google AdMob

When an ad can be served after your consent choices, Longview shows it as one clearly labelled sponsored card on its home screen, served by Google AdMob. Google's advertising software (the Google Mobile Ads SDK) is built into Longview and collects information automatically when it loads and shows ads. According to Google's disclosures, this includes:

your IP address, which may be used to estimate your general location (not your precise location);
device identifiers. On Android these are the advertising ID and the app set ID. On iPhone and iPad they are identifiers limited to the app or developer, plus the advertising identifier (IDFA) only if you allow tracking;
how you use the app and its ads, such as app launches, taps, ad views and which ads you have seen;
diagnostic information such as launch time, freezes and energy use, and, on iPhone and iPad, crash logs.

Longview does not include your weigh-ins, height, BMI or reminder time in ad requests. Google does know that the ad was requested from Longview. A device backup you enable with Google or Apple is separate from these advertising requests.

Google uses this information to serve and measure ads, for analytics, to prevent fraud and abuse, and, where you allow it, to personalise ads. It does so as an independent controller, under Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. Google and the advertising partners identified in the consent form may process advertising and device data under their respective privacy policies and your choices. We only see aggregate reports from Google, such as how many ads were shown.

Google's consent software, the User Messaging Platform, uses your approximate location, taken from your IP address, to decide whether a consent form is needed. It stores your choices on your device.

In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and anywhere else Google decides consent is required, Longview shows Google's consent form before any ad is requested. You can accept, refuse, or choose individual purposes. If you refuse, Google may still show non-personalised or "limited" ads, which use less data, for example to limit how often you see the same ad and to detect fraud. You can change your answer in Settings → Privacy choices where Google requires this control.

Apple's tracking prompt (iPhone and iPad)

After the consent flow, Longview requests Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission to ask whether Google may use your advertising identifier to track you across other companies' apps and websites. iOS shows the prompt only when permission has not already been determined and the device's settings allow it.

If you tap Ask App Not to Track, the advertising identifier stays unavailable and Longview marks every ad request as non-personalised. Ads may still be shown if your consent choices permit them and an ad is available. No feature is limited.
If you allow tracking, Google may use the identifier, and combine information with data from other apps and websites, to personalise and measure ads, within the choices you made on the consent form.

You can change this at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

Android

On Android, whether ads are personalised follows the choices you make on Google's consent form where it is shown. Elsewhere, Google may personalise ads using your advertising ID unless you have turned that off on your device. You can reset or delete your advertising ID, and manage ad topics, in Android's ad privacy settings (under Settings → Privacy or Settings → Google, depending on your device).

Daily reminder

The reminder is optional. When you turn it on, Longview asks for permission to send notifications. Your device schedules and shows the reminder itself: it is not a push message, and nothing is sent to us or to anyone else. On Android, Longview uses a system permission to set the reminder again after your device restarts. You can turn it off in Longview's settings or in your device's notification settings.

Permissions

Android: internet and network access (for ads); notifications (only if you turn the reminder on); starting after a restart (to reschedule the reminder); the advertising ID and ad-privacy permissions used by Google's ads software; and a few system permissions that Google's ads and notification libraries need, such as briefly keeping the device awake.
iPhone and iPad: notifications (only if you turn the reminder on) and tracking (Apple's prompt).

Longview does not ask for your precise location, camera, contacts or photos.

Analytics and crash reports

Longview contains no analytics or crash-reporting software of its own. The diagnostics described under Advertising are collected by Google's ads software. If you have chosen to share diagnostics with Apple or Google, they may make aggregated crash reports available to us under their own terms; these never include your weigh-ins.

We do not sell your data. Google and the advertising partners identified in the consent form may process advertising and device data as described above. Longview does not send them your weigh-ins, height or BMI. Your operating system may separately include locally stored data in backups you control. We may disclose information we hold, such as an email you sent us, only if the law requires it.

How your information is protected

Your entries live in Longview's private app storage, which your phone's operating system keeps separate from other apps and encrypts along with the rest of your device when it is protected by a passcode or screen lock. Because Longview has no server, there is no copy of your data on our side to be lost or breached. The information Google's ads software collects is encrypted in transit (TLS), according to Google. This website is served only over HTTPS.

International transfers

Outworld Apps is based in Romania, in the EU, and holds none of your app data. Google may process the information its software collects in the United States and other countries, under the safeguards described in Google's Privacy Policy.

Keeping and deleting your data

Your entries stay on your device until you delete them. You can delete individual weigh-ins in the app.
Where your version of Longview offers it, Settings → Reset all local data erases your weigh-ins, height and settings from the device.
Uninstalling Longview removes all of its data from your device. Copies in device backups remain until those backups are replaced or deleted.
Your consent choices are stored on your device and are removed when you uninstall.
Google keeps the information its software collects under its own retention policies. We cannot access or delete it for you. Use Google's controls, such as My Ad Center, reset or delete your advertising ID, or keep tracking off.
If you email us, we keep the conversation only as long as needed to help you, then delete it. You can ask us to delete it sooner.

Children

Longview is made for adults and is not directed to children. It is not part of Apple's Kids Category or Google Play's Families program, and its BMI guidance is not meant for under-18s.

Your rights

If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to and port your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. Longview stores your entries locally, so you can manage them directly in the app; use your operating system's controls for any backups. For information Google or an advertising partner holds, use its privacy tools or contact that company. For anything we hold, such as an email you sent us, write to us and we will answer within one month.

For advertising, we rely on your consent for personalised ads and, where the law requires it, for storing or reading information on your device. We rely on our legitimate interest in funding a free app for non-personalised or limited ads that do not depend on consent.

If you live in a US state with a consumer privacy law, you may have the right to know what is collected and to opt out of targeted advertising. We do not sell your personal information. On iPhone and iPad, keep tracking off; on Android, delete your advertising ID; and use Settings → Privacy choices where it is offered.

You can complain to Romania's data protection authority, ANSPDCP, or to the authority where you live.

This website

This site has no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts and loads nothing from other domains. Our hosting provider (Microsoft Azure) processes technical data such as IP addresses in server logs to deliver and secure the site, and may set a necessary load-balancing cookie (ARRAffinity).
